12:24pm <harveyj> Obama hasn’t had to say certain things in this address, especially re: civil liberties, nonbelievers, and reaching out to the Muslim world, yet he did anyway. That means a lot.
12:22pm <harveyj> Thank you for referencing Katrina, even if obliquely.
12:17pm <harveyj> “We reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals.”
12:12pm <harveyj> “The question is not whether the government is too big or too small, but whether it works” is a winning message, and sums up a lot of what was wrong with the Bush administration.
12:09pm <harveyj> He’s going right after it here, I like it.
12:08pm <harveyj> “True to our founding documents” is a key phrase here.
12:06pm <harveyj> Gravity normal, air returning, terror replaced by cautious optimism!
12:00pm <harveyj> The Bush-Biden administration is going far better than the previous administration, so far.
11:56am <harveyj> NO MORE CHENEY NO MORE CHENEY NO MORE CHENEY NO MORE CHENEY NO MORE CHENEY NO MORE CHENEY NO MORE CHENEY NO MORE CHENEY
11:47am <harveyj> Diane Feinstein to me is the symbol of Bush-era Democratic capitulation to me, I can’t say I’m all that thrilled to see my former senator on stage.
11:26am <harveyj> I wonder how much money it would take to bribe the band to play the Imperial March when Cheney walks on stage.
11:12am <harveyj> I’m currently about 200 feet from where I watched Obama’s 2004 DNC keynote. That speech has been dissected to death, but I was absolutely floored by it. The country was in full-on “you’re with the Republicans or you’re with the terrorists” mode, and his speech was a total repudiation of that mode of thinking.
11:10am <harveyj> At least it’s not Tim McCarver doing color commentary.
11:00am <harveyj> It’s really a race against time to see if we have any banks left before Obama gets sworn in.
10:58am <harveyj> In the lounge of my old dorm with Aerion.
